A quick update from a very fun night, with lots of good food and great company! We were at the Made Of Honour dinner at JW Mariott Hotel, held in conjunction with the movie Made Of Honour starring Patrick Dempsey!

Advertlets Announcing DTD Music Fest, 3rd May 2008!

Hi bloggers, music lovers, art lovers and who ever you are reading this,beginning its very first installment in 3/5/2008, DONG TAI DU / DTD (Translation: “Move Attitude”, “Forward Thinking” or “Action”) is set to be a bi-monthly independent music event, created to celebrate Malaysia’s very own homegrown music and creative arts. And, there are quite a few Advertlets bloggers involved, even some playing in the featured bands, including myself!

The event includes a powerhouse showcase of 12 local indie bands and 8 local electronica acts, a flea market of 20 stalls with creative, DIY design items for sale and a display of local indie design artworks.On par with the current trend where local independent musicians and creative arts had seen much public and media attention, this event aims to become the cornerstone
representative for the local Chinese independent musician/designer/artist community.

Ah Long Limited: Meet Fann Wong, Mark Lee & Our Very Own Daniel Tan!

Ah Long Pte Ltd 《老师嫁老大》 is a light-hearted black comedy about the triad world and the money-lending business. Wang Li Hua (played by Fann Wong) is a tough girl, and the succcessor of her triad’s money lending business. With the help of some professional consultants, Li Hua and several of her subordinates (played by KK and Daniel Tan) start adopting a series of creative tactics to attract money lenders and practice hilarious methods to pressure the money-lenders to repay in a non-violent way. Mr. Fang (played by Mark Lee) is a kind-hearted dance instructor who is slightly sissy in character.

Fate has it that Mr. Fang runs into Li Hua on numerous occasions by chance. Since Li Hua’s mother has been pressuring her to get married, Li Hua decides to force Mr. Fang to marry her…Surprisingly, Mr. Fang agrees to it, wanting to prove his masculinity, though he finds it hard to accept the fact that she is a triad head…read more on the official website, here!

Meet Mr Tan & Mr Tan, new additions to Advertlets!

I mentioned earlier that two of my good friends and business partners will be joining us to play an important role in Advertlets expansion. They are no other than my “brothers from other mothers”, Daniel Tan, & Simon Tan!. Daniel will be playing a greater role in assisting us with marketing and publicity, and Simon will be assisting in design, project management & security. They will be posting up their introductions later this week, on this blog.

Meet the Advertlets Bloggerina, Kim Ong!

Years ago, I met someone. He did look like an intellectual person, behind the spectacles and the seriousness he had wanted to portray. I did wonder if he was a businessman of some sort, clad in the Chinese outfit. I only had less than a minute to guess. I’m talking about Josh, founder of Advertlets.com. Soon after, he revealed he was a web designer and much later, I found out he isn’t as old as I thought he was! Anyway, the age thing is no longer a secret. If you don’t already know, continue to guess. A new friendship is like an unripened fruit, it may become either an orange or a lemon. Such is my friendship with Josh. Our five years of friendship since 2003 had been strengthened to a point where mutual trust has been established. I’ve had no doubts in Josh’s abilities. We have had our ups and downs and fair share of arguments, but for some reason there was some kind of faith towards one another.

To be honest, I’m no tech-junkie myself but how could I relate to Josh? To some extent, maybe we help boost each other’s creativity in work, plus he’s taught me alot about the technology industry. If there was a scale of a level of tech-junkie, it would be this: Beginner, Elementary and Advanced. I fall within the “Elementary” category. I wouldn’t say I’m a beginner either, after 5 years of being a blogger, previously on xanga using the nickname “kimfluttersby” and now on my own dot com. I’ve been on the internet long enough to know what’s happening around me. As for my blogging style? Simple enough to relate to readers with the intention to keep my readers happy and because of this, I love sharing.

As an average blogger myself, I recently learned about the potential of making money on my blog, last year. “Post up pictures, ensure a decent kind of standard in my writing with substance, ensure a consistent readership and voila, I’m ready to go with Advertlets.” Those are the main criteria for being part of Advertlets and you can place an ad almost immediately on your blog. I realised the potential in Advertlets in wanting to help Bloggers and Advertisers. Equal opportunity seems to be Advertlets’ core focus.

There are tons of bloggers in Malaysia; prominent ones with traffic of 5-figure uniques on a daily basis, some with lower traffic but with loyal visitors and commentators, and even some aspiring ones, some just started, and well, some are reading this wondering what Advertlets is all about. Because of this, I do feel part of the blogging community and this is important for new bloggers entering the blog arena. New Ad Format: 728×90 Leaderboard & New Ads
We’ve launched a new ad format! This new ad format will allow us to deliver better earnings to bloggers and more prominence for advertisers. Quite a few blogs are already sporting this new ad format, including Thiang, ShoppingNsales, Naomi Tham, Syokkahwin Blog and more!

Advertlets 2.0 Beta Test Invitation
A few of you are already on the Advertlets 2.0 beta test team, and we’ll like more feedback from more of our members. Its a total revamp of the previous interface, with lots of great new things: some of the exciting new features include social features, earning graphs, trend monitoring, pie charts, and a multi-tabbed access interface.

Increased Earnings & 10-20% Compensation Payout for DNS issue
Most of you would have noticed an increase in your earnings over the past few days due to the new ad campaigns we are running. Additionally, as compensation for the recent downtime, you will earn an additional 10-20% extra on top of all legit earnings for the month of January. The amount will be calculated at the end of January, and credited within the first week of February. Members who have been with Advertlets longer will get reimbursed to the higher ratio of 20%. To make sure you earn optimally, make sure that you install at least 2-3 Advertlets Ad units on your blog! We recommend you install them in the following order of priority: 728×90, 165×240, 336×280, 468×60 and 180×150. Remember, you can only have a maximum of 4 ad units per page, so we recommend installing the larger formats to earn optimally.
