Advertlets Presents The Spice Girls, and Hester’s First Post!

HesterHey Advertlets Bloggers! I’m Hester, a 20 yr-old Indonesian female student from Limkokwing– and currently an intern at Advertlets :) I have been residing here for about 2 years, yet still so often getting lost on the road. It has been a nice two years here – learning tiny facts like the Mamak would be the only one who could fulfill your hunger anytime, anywhere. To the extent to even dreaming about it, two things that I missed terribly when I went back to Jakarta last holiday was a plate of Roti Pisang and Teh O’ Ais. Nothing basically could beat that, ever! It’s like my staple food here in times good and bad.

Mind you, this is not just a compulsory write-up I have to do, cos I am a hugeeee fan of Spice Girls! I believe in girl power and that we can be as tough as boys. So, I am as excited and surprised as you about their reunion.

Spice GirlsAfter nine years of incubation, Spice Girls, a mid-90s British pop group is BACK..! Even Geri (Ginger Spice), who quit the group in 1998, has returned! She was quoted recently as saying “A girl is allowed to change her mind…” and also that its “about celebrating the past, enjoying each other, and is about our fans”.

I remember growing up with ‘2 Become 1’ and ‘Viva Forever’ song stuck on my head even when I go to sleep, singing out loud ‘Wannabe’ under the shower, playing the whole album over and over again on my ancient classic Sony Walkman player and learning my very first modern dancing step movements with ‘Stop’ song. Undeniably, most of us who were born in the 80s can definitely remember the tunes and lyrics to most Spice Girls songs. Its great to know that they are all back together.

I checked out the latest video of theirs, ‘Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)’ and honestly, I am shocked. Spice Girls are no more girls now, the video shows a more matured and grown up style. And the latest song is still lovely, though its a different style from what I used to hear. Indeed, Spice Girls have now become “Spice Women!” And they are remarkably fit for their age, it looks like Geri is competing with Mel B to see who has the most toned abs!

Adding to the excitement here, there is a contest that you would not want to miss out! Join the contest, and stand the chance of winning their latest CDs, ‘Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)’ and 2 tickets to THE RETURN OF THE SPICE GIRLS Concert in London Live!

Speaking of the CD of their latest CD, ‘Spice Girls: Greatest Hits’, it is indeed the greatest hits! I found myself in a nostalgic moment listening to those old songs from more than 9 years ago. It also includes 2 new feature songs, Headlines and Voodoo that put a new spin on the classic Spice Girls sound. So, do log on to http://www.emimusic.com.my/spicegirls/ to check out the album, join and contest, and get spiced! Zig-a-zig-ah!

Yea…I remember the movie. Didn’t know they had a perfume though. I recently found the Spice Girls coffee-table book in my storeroom. Another girl group that I thought was good was All Saints.

I’m not a big fan of Spice Girl (lol), but Viva Forever always makes me full of emotions, but still dun understand why the heck the two kids have to go inside the rubik’s cube.

  • Brenda Says:

YES ! spice girls are hot (:

  • Steven Says:

Yeah, Spice Girls members have grown matured much from their shows last time..Even I think some of them already not connected with their nicknames in olden times. Like Melanie C, she was a “sport” spice, but now she doesn’t looks like “sporty” girl anymore lol…I think the newest album will raise their name back, after so long a bit “lost” from the entertainment world…haha..
Anyway, I’m also Indonesian studying at UCTI lol..=p and you right about the Mamak things…hahahaha XD Good luck with your blog lol..
