Advertlets In the Morning, And Why It’s Sometimes Down

Problem
Advertlets ads/website shows errors like “User advertlets_adv already has more than ‘max_user_connections’ active”. Happens around 10AM-11AM usually, when traffic is at is highest due, presumably due to the fact that the office crowd is visiting blogs. However, it is usually only down for about only 5-10 minutes around this period.

Why This Is Happening
Too much traffic, server cannot handle load at peak times.

Solution & ETA
Further database optimizations and server upgrades are needed to cope with the heavy load. The problem will be a challenge to fix, but it will be done by this week. Expect a 20-30 minute downtime period around 12AM-6AM sometime this week, the exact date will be announced soon.

What can you do?
Please know that this is not a problem on your end or with the installation of your Advertlets code. Your patience is appreciated, the problem will be resolved within this week. In the meantime, please try log in at a time other than 10AM-11AM if possible for this week only.

On the bright side, our client, RoomsDB is also facing heavy traffic because of the traffic they get from Advertlets.
