The Person Behind The Website

Sebastian Ang is half German, half Chinese and a full on web developer. He is the sole developer of roomsDB.net, a website which helps you find vacant accomodation at the best price possible - cutting out the middlemen between landlords and tenants.

As he explains in his own words: “I am the only developer, I did the whole page on my own. When I use phrases like “your roomsDB.net team…” it is actually just me, I am your one man roomsDB.net team. But actually since I am working on roomsDB.net for other countries than Singapore now, I got help from some good friends to translate the page. If you want to help me translate roomsDB.net for your language, just drop me a line!”

He is a student of electrical engineering and currently (April 2007) writing his master thesis at the National Taiwan University in Taipei. Before this he has also studied in Hong Kong (HKUST) and in Singapore (NUS).

So, How Did RoomsDB.net Start?

While in Singapore he had the idea to start roomsDB.net. He was looking for accomodation and found that it was really not easy to find a room because there was no good website for that. So he thought: Why not make one myself?

And so he started to develop singapore.roomsDB.net! In creating this site, Sebastian aimed to create a site that is easy to use, full of vacant rooms and of course free of charge for everybody.

And also, especially because of the spirit of the project - it is a private project of a single person, that is free of charge to use for all - and will always stay free of charge. Sebastian noted to us that all the money he makes from advertising on his site, he uses to market the site and pay for server fees.
